It was a star-studded froggy night when my brothers and I visited top glass frog scientist Brian Kubicki at his research center in Costa Rica's amphibian-rich Turrialba region.

Accompanying the brothers was my friend LE Seydel, who recently published a book on frogs. LE and her sister Vassar were visiting Costa Rica for their first time, with their parents.

The super-star of the evening was the famous red-eyed tree frog.  Ryan tracked him down in the dark by following his croak through the forest!  I snapped the photo above as Mr. Froggy sat on his branch.
