Lucy age 12, from Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA. sent us this question: "Were you afraid to touch the iguanas?"
Michael did the video on the iguanas so he answers Lucy:
Our camera guy, Ben, kept telling me to pet the iguanas, but I was a little afraid. I like how they feel, but I wasn't sure if they were going to whip me with their tail. These are wild iguanas, not pets, so they're not used to being touched. That's always a good thing to remember when you find an animal in the wild! They have defense mechanisms and they'll use them if they feel threatened! Thanks for your question, Lucy!
Billy age 15, from Boise, Idaho, USA wants to know how to get started in surfing.
Since Ryan teaches surfing, he answers the question:
That's awesome that you want to learn to surf! Are there waves in Boise? If not, you could try skate boarding, especially on a long board, to get the feeling of surfing. Next time you're somewhere near an ocean with waves, the best thing to do is to rent a board and take a lesson. You'll feel more comfortable then. It helps if you're a good swimmer, so that's something else you can practice in Boise. One thing that's important to remember is that, like anything else, surfing takes practice. You might be really good right away, or, if you're like me, it will take some time to get the hang of it. But once you do, you'll never want to stop! Have fun learning, especially falling! I always laugh when I fall. But close your mouth when you hit the water! Thanks for sending in your question!
Wendy, age 10 from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada wants to know if sloths make noises.
Will is the SNA Team sloth expert and answers her question:
Sloths are not only slow, they're really quiet! The only time I've heard a sloth make a noise was when it was eating. And even that was a lot quieter than my brothers when they eat! I've read that female sloths make a sound like a scream to attract a mate. I'm not sure who would find screaming something they want to be around, but I guess male sloths do. Thanks a lot for your question!
Hunter, age 10 from Winnetka, Illinois, USA asks Why do you call the show "Super Natural Adventures"?
That's a great question, Hunter! When something is "really" or "a lot" or "really awesome" you can say it is, "super," right? And of course "natural" is there because we're talking about things in nature. "Adventures" are what we're off having! Put it all together and it's "Super Natural Adventures"! We liked the title because it also works in Spanish-- "Aventuras Super Naturaleza"--and we will be creating some SNA segments in Spanish. Thanks for your question!
