Kids Who Play Outside Make Good Students!

As an educator, you may be particularly interested to know that research indicates that Children who regularly spend unstructured time outside:

  • Play more creatively
  • Have lower stress levels
  • Have more active imaginations
  • Become fitter and leaner
  • Develop stronger immune systems
  • Experience fewer symptoms of ADD and ADHD
  • Have greater respect for themselves, for others, and for the environment
  •

However, according to the National Wildlife Federation in the United States, "As a society, we are raising the first generation of Americans to grow up disconnected from nature." Unfortunately, our over-scheduled children have had unstructured play time outdoors scheduled right out of their lives.  Super Natural Adventures aims to play a part in changing this.  We invite educators to join us!

    The Idea

Super Natural Adventures started out as a hands-on educational tool to use with our boys. The idea was to capitalize on the boys’ love of nature and our incredible location to teach them how to research a topic, write about it and present it. As a journalist with experience in all news media (print, radio, television and now “new” media), this was also a way for me to interact with my boys on yet another level, teaching them what I know, while at the same time learning side-by-side with them about the natural world.

As friends, family and particularly educators began to see what we were producing with Super Natural Adventures, they asked us to create more and suggested we offer it to everybody. And so here we are.
