Super Natural Adventures is an idea that has grown out of our experiences as North Americans living in Costa Rica, but it's also a call to ALL of us--whether we live in a tropical rainforest or a concrete jungle--to bring nature back into the lives of our children. And ourselves.

Contact with nature engenders a sense of wonder and awe. And with wonder and awe come joy and a desire to live in harmony with nature.

Super Natural Adventures started out as a hands-on educational tool to use with my boys.

The idea was to capitalize on the boys’ love of nature and our incredible location to teach them how to research a topic, write about it and present it. As a journalist with experience in all news media (print, radio, television and now “new” media), this was also a way for me to interact with my boys on yet another level, teaching them what I know...

...while at the same time learning side-by-side with them about the natural world.

As friends, family and particularly educators began to see what we were producing with Super Natural Adventures, they asked us to create more and suggested we offer it to everybody. And so here we are.

Our family consciously stepped out of a traditional U.S. lifestyle and our comfort zone to pursue this dream of moving to a foreign country with our children in order to expand their world—and ours—quite literally. (For more on this, read my personal blog at www.gypsyjournalist.com) My husband Steve and I wanted our children to feel comfortable in another language (Spanish, in this case), in another culture, with people of varying socio-economic backgrounds and, of course, to appreciate and value nature. It's been a wild ride, not without its challenges, but it was a dream we had and we went for it.

In this way, Super Natural Adventures seeks also to be an inspiration to you, whatever your dreams may be for yourself, your family and your life.
